All of us are short of time and often looking to find ways news ways in which we can save time. Here are some keyboard shortcuts that may be of help to you. Some of these you might already know but maybe there’s a few you don’t!
E-mpower.IT thought it might be an idea to list these in the hope that it will help you to navigate around your PC more freely, saving you time and reducing your frustration. And, who knows, if you’re suffering with a repetitive strain injury it may even help with that too!
Ctrl + C or Ctrl + Insert – Copy selected item
Ctrl + V or Shift + insert will paste copied text
Ctrl + X or Shift + Del – cuts selected item
Ctrl + Backspace will delete a full word at a time instead of a single character
Ctrl + A – Selects all text
Ctrl + Z – Will undo any changes
Ctrl + Y – Will redo the undo
Ctrl + S – Saves a file you are working on
Ctrl + P – To print the current page/document
Position on document
Ctrl + Home – Goes to beginning of document
Ctrl + End – Moves the cursor to the end of a document
Shift + End – Highlights from current position of cursor to the end of line
End – Goes to the end of current line
Shift + left or right arrow – Moves the cursor selects (highlights) one character at a time
Ctrl + Shift + left or right arrow – Moves the cursor and selects (highlights) one word at a time
Ctrl + left or right arrow – Moves the cursor one word at a time as opposed to one character at a time
Ctrl + Esc – Opens the START menu
Ctrl + Shift + Esc – Opens Windows Task Manager
Ctrl + F – Opens the ‘Find’ option in any program
Alt + Tab – Switches between open programs moving forwards
Shift key + Alt + Tab – Switches between open programs moving backwards
First select the text you wish to amend (if you use any of these key combinations twice on the same piece of highlighted text; it will return the text back to its original state)
Ctrl + B – Changes selected text to be Bold
Ctrl+ D – Changes font style
Ctrl + I – Changes selected text to be in Italics
Ctrl + U – Changes selected text to be underlined
Ctrl + K – Inserts a hyperlink for selected text
